The theme park business is booming, with the latest statistics from the Association of Haunted Attractions showing that in 2016 there were nearly 1,000 new amusement parks opening in the U.S. and the theme parks industry was expected to reach nearly $1.2 billion in annual sales by 2021.
But there’s one attraction that’s likely to be on the market for quite some time, and that’s the famous “wildwood” amusement park in Kentucky.
In 2019, it closed its doors and will be replaced by the wildwood theme park in 2018.
While many have speculated about its future for quite a while, a new article from The Associated Press offers some insight into the company’s future plans.
The theme park company is expected to spend more than $1 billion on renovations and upgrades to its buildings.
Some of the money will be invested in new theme park attractions and a new hotel in Kentucky, and will also pay for an expanded theme park and related facilities in the park.
The Kentucky hotel will be owned by a holding company called the American Hotels and Resorts Group.
The hotel’s name will be based on the location of the park, which will be the largest park in the world and home to a theme park.
That hotel will have restaurants and other amenities that will make it a destination for visitors from around the world, according to the AP article.
While the park is now closed, there’s also talk of moving the theme park to another location, and opening another amusement park and hotel in a nearby state.
