It has won three Oscars and has grossed more than $1 billion at the box office.
But “WALTZ OF THE DESERT” may be the least popular Disney movie ever made.
Its worldwide sales are now down about 8 percent from last year, and its box office revenue has been down about 25 percent.
The Disney/Lucasfilm film is set in the fictional desert kingdom of Aventuria and features a cast that includes Emma Stone, Benicio Del Toro and the late John Goodman.
It was released in June 2018 and went on to earn $7.9 million worldwide, compared with $8.6 million in 2017.
It is also one of the biggest flops at the Chinese box office, with the total number of ticket sales down 18 percent.
The total China box office grossed $23.3 billion in the first four months of 2018.
China’s box office is expected to overtake the United States as the world’s second-biggest market in 2019, after North America, according to the box-office tracker BoxOfficeMojo.com.
The “WALL-E” movie grossed about $300 million worldwide.
