The man, who was wearing protective face coverings as he walked towards the park on Wednesday afternoon, was struck as he made his way towards the exit of the amusement park at Mount Pleasant, in the town of Mount Douglas, about 5.15pm (AEDT).
A spokesman for the Perth Police said the man was a passenger in a car travelling in the opposite direction and was struck at the rear of the vehicle.
He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The WA Police said in a statement that the driver of the car, a 45-year-old man, did not have a licence and was believed to be under the influence of drugs.
The collision occurred at the top of a slide which was popular with visitors to the park.
It said the vehicle driver was not wearing a helmet.
The coroner’s office said in its statement that there was evidence that the man had been in the park for a number of days prior to the collision and had been walking the park’s steeple when he was attacked.
“He was wearing goggles, a protective helmet and a mask and was wearing reflective material, which is typically used at amusement parks in Australia to reduce glare and protect the eyes from the sun,” the statement read.
“The circumstances of his death have not been established as the circumstances surrounding his death would be difficult to establish.”
